Always define your purpose before you start to work. Your purpose will determine your destination.To be a hardworking person, you must have a hard or tough purpose.

Motivation
Motivation is what will keep you on working. You need to motivate yourself not only once, but everyday.

Knowledge increase
Knowledge is power, and you need power to keep working.Reading and knowing more will help you become more hardworking.

Understanding
If knowledge is power, understanding is the right usage of that power. A person who has more experience tends to become more diligent than the person who has less experience.

Most of people will do what is easiest and avoid hard work - and thats is precisely why you should do opposite - working hard. The all opportunities of life will be attacked by horde of peoples seeking for what is easy. The much tougher challenges will usually see more less competition but more opportunity. 
Hard work always pays off. When somebody tells you otherwise, beware for something " fast & easy " that is about to come next. How greater you capacity for hard work, then more rewards you can get.

Think About Yourself

You might love your work. But however much you enjoy it, your work is not your whole life. Start recognize the importance of another things - family, friends, hobbies, sufficient rest and relaxation.
If you are working hard in the hopes of retiring early, ease upon work and enjoy you whole life more - instead of hoping for couple golden years at the end of it.
If you are working hard to buy more things for you kids, ask yourself whether it is really more money that they need - or only your presence.
If you are working hard because you feel that you "should" do that - then start remember - this is your life, and it is only up to you to decide how to live it.

Always Respect Yourself

 It is important to work well and often - this means being acknowledged as hardworking. When you applying for a job, you need to show that you are a hard worker and conscientious, without being liable to stressing.
Hard worker generally referred for those who work more physically than mentally, in your resume it is better to use the word "smart worker" in other words its known as you are a skilled person.
Try to teach others to be hardworking. Maybe they will thank you for it in the future!
Remember - Once you get to be an excellent hard worker, just keep doing it. You shouldn't brag about yourself because you are hardworking. Many people do not like someone that thinks extremely highly of themselves and is too selfish.
There are hardworking people all around us. You should try to act similar to the way they do, because you will learn from them.
